Ivalo Airport is only about 11 kilometres away – land from Helsinki and you're here in fifteen minutes. Entry is with your own door code, sent to you by text message on the day of arrival. No reception queues, no key handovers.
Ivalo's shops and restaurants are a short walk away, the slopes and trails of Saariselkä about half an hour by car, and the village of Inari with its Sámi culture roughly an hour away. Lake Inari offers fishing in summer and snowmobile safaris in winter.
Ivalo sits right in the auroral zone. From August to April, all you need to do is step outside and look up.
